Mother Nature appears to be throwing quite the winter party this weekend in Westfield. The National Weather Service has already put out a winter weather advisory for Union County. They say to look out for slick roads this weekend. If you start to feel a little down from the cold winter weather, might I suggest a nice cup of tea to warm you up? How about a traditional afternoon English tea put together by our local historical society? They host their Westfield British Tea event next month and would love for you to join them.
What: Westfield British Tea
Where: Reeve History & Cultural Resource Center (314 Mountain Ave)
When: Wednesday, February 5th, 12 pm
Cost: $35 for members/$40 for non-members
Contact: Westfield Historical Society (908) 654-1794 or via email
Westfield British Tea
Do you love British culture? Were you glued to the television when William wed Kate? How about when Harry and Meghan married each other? Well, then. You’ll love what the Westfield Historical Society has planned. They want to put together a traditional afternoon tea befitting English Lords and Ladies of the late 1800’s/early 1900’s.
On Wednesday, February 5th, they transform the Reeve Center into a beautiful Edwardian Tea House. Clotted cream and jam on your scones. Finger sandwiches. Sweet pastries. Nosh on them all while you sip your tea at this event. And don’t worry about what to wear. Afternoon tea attire (jacket and tie for men, dresses for ladies) is considered optional. Dress up if you want. But it isn’t necessary.
Tickets for Tea
Tickets cost $35 for members of the Westfield Historical Society. If you aren’t a member, however, you must pay $40 per person. Seating is limited. So reserve your place as soon as possible. All reservation requests must be received by Thursday, January 30th. Visit the Historical Society’s website here to reserve your seat today.
Westfield MLK Day of Service Toiletry Kits
Today’s the last day to drop off donated items for the Westfield MLK Day of Service toiletry kits. On Monday, volunteers put together these kits for our less fortunate neighbors at the Westfield Presbyterian Church on Mountain. If you miss the cutoff to donate items, you can still drop off completed kits at the church on Monday, January 20th between 10 am and 11 am. Bridges Outreach collects all kits created and received on Monday. Then, they distribute them where needed. All donations are welcome.
