There’s nothing quite like cool jazz on a warm summer night. This July and August, you’ll get to enjoy both at the 2017 Downtown Westfield Jazz Festival. Every Tuesday evening beginning on the 4th of July, jazz music fills the Westfield air. And it won’t cost you a dime to enjoy it either.

2017 Downtown Westfield Jazz Festival
If you find yourself shopping or dining out on a Tuesday evening this summer, take some time to appreciate the 2017 Downtown Westfield Jazz Festival. Each of the five locations set up around the Downtown Westfield area feature a different performer each week. If you find yourself shopping at Coldwater Creek or Nos Vino, the David Aaron Quintet performs outside. Picking up dessert at Carlo’s Bake Shop? Cross the street to 1 Lincoln Plaza to see the Eric Mintel Quartet in action. Strolling down Elm St by the First Baptist Church? Listen to the Jan Findley Trio. Enjoy dinner at Limani’s while the Chuck Lambert Band plays just outside. Or, come to Foundation Park to hear the Richard Reiter Swing Band perform.
On July 4th and August 29th (opening and closing nights), the artists that usually would be playing outside Limani’s will actually be performing on Quimby St. Quimby will be shut down on these two nights specifically for these special performances. For a complete list of who’s performing where, please download the 2017 Downtown Westfield Jazz Festival schedule of events.
Westfield’s National Night Out 2017
This year’s National Night Out occurs on Tuesday, August 1st. Come to the North Ave Train Station that evening. In addition to the jazz festival, meet our everyday heroes from the Westfield Police Department as well as our local Fire Department. This is your chance to shake their hands and tell them how grateful you are that they are keeping our community safe. Also, they have partnered with the DPW to host several activities meant to promote community involvement.
Where do you plan to be on Tuesdays this July and August? I suggest you go to the 2017 Downtown Westfield Jazz Festival. If it rains on Tuesday, that week’s events will take place the next evening (Wednesday). Date night just got a whole lot more interesting this summer.
