After the sweltering heat earlier in the week, Mother Nature took pity on the almost 2000 participants in the Westfield Pizza Run. By Wednesday night, the weather cooled off enough to let the runners race in comfort. But why should humans be the only ones enjoying what downtown Westfield has to offer? Bring your favorite furry companions to the Dog Days of Summer in Westfield event next month.

Dog Days of Summer in Westfield
Show your pooch how much you love them by pampering them with gifts and spa treatments galore at the Dog Days of Summer. Wolf Gang Bakery & Dog Grooming offers on-site treats and treatments. Center your pup’s chi with some “DoGa” (doggy yoga) with Brassy Buddha. Kilwins offers pet-friendly ice cream with free dog bone sprinkles for your hound. Ono Bowls promises a great dog treat giveaway, too. Play “fetch” with your pup when you pick up a free beach ball courtesy of Columbia Bank. And save this memory forever with a photo-op at the Little Nest. Don’t be surprised if you see members of the Paw Patrol on-site, too. The kids will love it.
Excessive Heat Warning
Just a warning. Pay attention to the weather reports before heading out to the Dog Days of Summer. High temperatures combined with high humidity makes it feel much hotter than normal. You’ll want to stay hydrated and dress in loose-fitting clothing to allow your skin to breathe when this happens. Also, always apply sunscreen to any exposed skin (including your face) before you head out into the sun. Make sure you bring water for your four-legged friends as well. They get dehydrated easily in warmer weather, too. Then, just have fun.
