Two businesses in the Downtown Westfield area want to do their part to give back to the community. Athleta and The Town Book Store are hosting a Downtown Westfield School Supply Collection 2017 event. To participate, all you have to do is drop off school supplies at their facilities during normal business hours. Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it?

The children served by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Union County need your help. Our Westfield students head back to school on September 6th. While our children may be financially sound, some families throughout the county struggle to make ends meet. School supplies can be expensive. You can help those less fortunate individuals of our community by donating much needed school supplies. That way, we arm our children with the tools they need to succeed academically and socially.
To signal the end of the Downtown Westfield School Supply Collection 2017 event, Athleta will be hosting a book signing by author Laurie Gelman on September 14th. A Canadian transplant, Laurie now lives in New York City. She’ll be signing copies of her first book, the award-winning novel Class Mom. If you’d like, fill up a backpack of brand new school supplies to drop off when you come see Laurie.
Supplies Needed for the Downtown Westfield School Supply Collection 2017
- Writing implements – #2 pencils, 24 pack crayons, colored pencils, pencil crayons, washable felt markers, highlighter pens
- Art supplies – glue sticks, Fiskars scissors, smocks
- Paper – spiral notebooks, composition books, wide-ruled loose leaf paper
- Office supplies – staplers with staples, pocket folders, soft plastic binders
- Miscellaneous – tissue packets, hard plastic pencil cases, pink erasers, rulers
