Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive 2021

April 2, 2021 by Scott Gleason

I have been involved with the Westfield Area Y Men’s Club for years now. Thanksgiving marks the start of our annual Christmas tree lot. (Thank you for selling us our well ahead of Christmas last year, by the way.) Our local YMCA offers so much to the community. Next week, they need your help to provide assistance to those less fortunate all over the world. They are asking you to donate to their Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive.

Bring any of your slightly used clothing, handbags, shoes, linens, and bedding to the Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive this Wed, April 14th.

What: Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive 2021
Where: Westfield Area Y (422 E Broad St)
When: Wednesday, April 14th, 7:30 am to 2:30 pm
Contact: Eileen Rooney, Westfield YMCA (908) 301-9622 ext 134 or via email

If you plan on channeling your inner Marie Kondo by getting rid of anything that does not spark “feelings of joy” in your Westfield household, consider bringing it all to Westfield YMCA’s clothing drive. It takes place on Wednesday, April 14th.

Drop off your slightly used clothing (for all ages) and accessories (hats, belts, handbags) between 7:30 am and 2:30 pm. They also accept used bedding, curtains, and towels. Plus, if your children outgrew their stuffed animals and toys, feel free to drop those off as well. The toys cannot exceed two feet in size. Unfortunately, they will not be accepting household items like pots, pans, electronics, furniture, appliances, or books at this event. To donate those, contact our local Salvation Army or Goodwill stores. Our local library and even our schools accept book donations, too.

Where Does It All Go?

The American Used Clothing Corp picks up all donations and distributes them to second-hand stores all over the world. Proceeds from the Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive help fund the Westfield Y’s financial assistance program. The Y’s membership fees work on a sliding scale. This allows all members of our society access to everything the Y has to offer our community.

Clear your closets and help others at the same time. Please donate what you can to the Y’s clothing drive. Thank you.

Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive for October 2020

September 25, 2020 by Scott Gleason

I have been a proud member of the Westfield Area Y Men’s Club for a long time now. Perhaps you saw me at our Christmas Tree Lot last year (or any of the years before that). In fact, it’s almost time for our lot to start up again. (Just over two months to go!). The Y hosted a clothing drive back in May of this year. It went so well, that they decided to host another Westfield Area Y clothing drive in October.

Help raise money for the Y's financial assistance program by dropping off donations for the Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive in Oct 2020.

What: Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive
Where: Westfield Area Y (422 E Broad St)
When: Thursday, October 8th, 2020, 7:30 am to 2:30 pm
Contact: Westfield Area Y (908) 301-9622 x240 or via email

The Y is Back in Business

Click here for an instant "No Strings Attached" valuation of your home. The Y offers dozens of programs for children and adults that encourage them to work on their physical fitness. After months of shutdown due to COVID-19 concerns, they recently opened back up for business. They worked hard to put measures in place to keep everyone as safe as possible. In fact, their yoga, pilates, senior classes, group cardio, and other classes are now back on the schedule. They include social distancing guidelines for safety, too.

The Y bases their membership fees on income. This allows lower income members of the community the chance to utilize their services just as easily as those members with higher incomes. To do so, they rely on grants from the government as well as donations from private companies, organizations, and individuals. That’s where you can help.

Bring your gently used clothing items, accessories, and linens to the Westfield Area Y’s parking lot on Thursday, October 8th, Organizers will set up a tarp for drop-off to minimize person-to-person contact. They also accept stuffed animals and small plastic toys. They take all of these donations and sell them to raise money to help supplement their financial assistance program. If you’d like to donate in other ways, please visit the Westfield Y’s website to find out how.

Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive 2020

May 28, 2020 by Scott Gleason

How have you been spending your quarantine hours? Tackling your spring cleaning, perhaps? Now’s the time to do it, that’s for sure. Did you find clothes that don’t fit you or your family anymore? Want to update your wardrobe but need to make room first? Take all of your gently used items to the Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive 2020. Then, they’ll take it from there.

Have you spent part of your time in quarantine cleaning out your closets and cupboards? Get rid of your excess at the Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive 2020.

What: Clothing Drive
Where: Westfield Area Y (422 E Broad St)
When: Wednesday, June 3rd, 7:30 am to 2:30 pm

Westfield Area Y Clothing Drive 2020

Click here for an instant "No Strings Attached" valuation of your home.Don’t throw out items you no longer have a use for. Give them a new purpose by donating them to the Y’s clothing drive on June 3rd. Our local YMCA accepts clothing, shoes, accessories (belts, bags, hats, etc.), bedding, towels, and even stuffed animals and small plastic toys for their clothing drive. All items received will be sold at a later date. Proceeds from the sale directly benefit their financial assistance program. So, if you’ve gained a “quarantine 15” and no longer fit into some of your clothes or your children no longer play with certain toys and they just seem to take up space in your home, bring them to the YMCA so that another family can get some use out of them.

Westfield Area Y’s Financial Assistance Program

The Y believes that no one should be turned away from utilizing their services, especially if they experience a financial hardship of any kind. Therefore, they award scholarships for community members in need to offset membership fees. These scholarships are used for day care, child care after school, day camps in the summertime, sports, and aquatic classes as well as membership fees. To find out more about the scholarship and to download an application, visit the Y’s website here.
