Our police put their lives on the line every single day for our protection. Firefighters run towards danger while others run away from it. EMTs tend to be the first medical personnel at the scene of an emergency. You can meet all of them at the Westfield National Night Out 2017 celebration on August 1st.

Westfield National Night Out 2017 Celebration
Last year’s inaugural event turned out to be a hit. Westfield National Night Out 2017 looks to be even bigger. Next Tuesday, August 1st, Westfield Police Chief David Wayman invites the public to come out for an evening of family-friendly fun. Employees of the Department of Public Works join our city’s first responders for a meet and greet with the public. This event provides the opportunity for them to interact with Westfield citizens outside of their usual official duties. Many different emergency vehicles will be on display. Kids are welcome to hop aboard and explore each one themselves.
Westfield Bicycle Registration
The law requires that bikes must be registered with the Westfield Police Department. Current registration needs to be attached to your bicycle at all times. If not, it can be impounded. Also, you could face a fine of up to $25. So, bring your bike to the Westfield National Night Out 2017 celebration to bring it in to compliance with local laws.
Children’s Activities
Besides the emergency vehicle inspections, children have the opportunity to get fingerprinted. Next, a coloring station will be set up that teaches children about safety in a fun way. Also, each department offers free giveaways for kids to take home with them as well.
The City encourages anyone between the ages of 14 and 20 to sign up for the Police Explorer Program during the festivities. This program promotes civic pride, physical fitness and strong character development. So, talk to one of the officers on-site on August 1st to find out more about the program.
Everyone receives a free hot dog and soda during Westfield National Night Out 2017. During the day of the celebration, access to the parking on the north side of the train station will be denied to prepare for the evening’s events. Parking permit usage will be allowed for commuters. Comes say “hello” to our brave first responders. Show your children that these people are our friends.
