AddamsFest 2019 Takes Over Westfield in October

Last year, Westfield hosted its very first festival to honor its native son, Charles Addams, creator of The Addams Family cartoon series. Everyone enjoyed it so much, that organizers decided to expand it even further for AddamsFest 2019. It pretty much takes over the entire month of October now. The first of several events taking place this month is happening right now: the Westfield Haunt Your House Contest. Judging starts up next week. But, that’s only the beginning. There are so much more creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky festivities awaiting anyone who dares to partake.

Celebrate Westfield's native son, Charles Addams, all month long when AddamsFest 2019 takes over Westfield this October. Several events take place all throughout October at various locations around the city.

Gomez’s Dynamite Model Railway

So, this year, organizers put together something special for the 2019 AddamsFest. From October 17th to October 27th, the Westfield Town Hall Community Center hosts special viewings of Gomez’s beloved model trains (minus the big explosions, of course). Tickets go on sale online beginning Monday, October 7th for a suggested $5 donation each. Limited seating will be available. Visit the AddamsFest website to join the guest list before you miss out on this extraordinary opportunity.

Addams Family Fun Zone

On Sunday, October 20th, Quimby Street in Downtown Westfield transforms into the Addams Family Fun Zone. From 11 am to 5 pm, watch local musicians perform live on the main stage. Visit vendor booths. Don’t be surprised if you see street performers suddenly start up their act right in front of you. The Maniac Pumpkin Carvers are back for more incredible pumpkin carvings you have to see to believe. Dress up your mutt in their finest costume for the Howl-O-Ween Dog Contest. And for our sensory-sensitive attendees, organizers turn the noise level way down between 11 am and 12 pm so that you can enjoy the fun zone, too.

Downtown Parade & Costume Contest

Everyone’s invited to dress up as their favorite Addams Family character for a special parade downtown on October 27th. Just dress up and show up and you’re in! Then, participate in Downtown Westfield Corporation’s Costume Contest for fun and prizes.

Pugsley’s Trunk or Treat

Finally, forget going to strangers’ doors and begging for treats. Head over to the South Ave train station on October 27th instead. Then, let your little ones walk from trunk to trunk of some creatively dressed-up automobiles for treats (no tricks). Unfortunately, tickets for Charlie’s Ale Garden and Morticia & Gomez’s Masquerade Ball have already sold out for this year’s festival. I suggest you keep an eye out next September to see when 2020’s tickets go on sale. Then, hop online to get yours as soon as possible.
