For several years now, I have had the distinct honor of being a part of the Westfield Y Men’s Club. We raise money for local charities in the Westfield, Scotch Plains, Cranford, Mountainside and surrounding areas. Each year, our club hosts a Christmas tree lot. Money raised from the sales at the lot benefit the charities we support. The Westfield Y Men’s Club needs volunteers to help unload a large shipment of trees this weekend. We are asking the public for their assistance.
How You Can Help
Pine trees, Douglas firs, Frasier firs and other festive trees are scheduled for delivery at the Elm Street athletic fields early tomorrow morning. Simply show up between 8am and noon. Sometimes, this work gets a bit dirty. Wear something comfortable. Work or gardening gloves protect your hands from becoming sticky messes. Even disposable latex or nitrile gloves can be helpful. However, your grip may falter slightly with disposable gloves.
Westfield Y Christmas Tree Lot
This weekend, we unload the trees. Next weekend, we begin selling the trees. Our tree lot doesn’t officially open until the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Beginning November 26th, operating hours run from 9am to 6pm on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and 5pm to 9pm weekdays (Monday through Friday). The lot stays open straight through until December 23rd. Tree sales help support The Children’s Learning Center, Resolve Community Counseling Center and the Overlook Hospital’s Cancer Center.
The Westfield Y Men’s Club needs volunteers this Saturday, November 19th, to help get ready for our annual Christmas tree lot fundraising. As an officer of the club, I hope to see you there. If you spot me at the lot tomorrow, please come say “hi”. I’d love to meet you and give you my personal thanks for your assistance.
